DUFFNER DITCH CULVERT AND FLOODGATE REPLACEMENT
Project Details
Client Name: Bertrand Watershed Improvement District
Construction Cost: $384,000
This flood gate and culvert replacement project consisted of the replacement of an existing top hinge flap style floodgate with a side hinge gate and a Muted Tidal Regulator. The existing culverts were replaced with a larger single box culvert that provides improved fish passage and meets flood requirements. This required hydrologic modeling. The channel was also realigned to provide a more favorable alignment with Bertrand Creek. The project included the completion of a design report for approval from NRCS. R&E worked with Whatcom County River and Flood to assess the impacts to this flood prone area.
