R&E provided design and construction management for the City of Mount Vernon’s award winning Downtown Flood Protection Project – Phases 2, 3A, and 3B. The project included the construction of three different types of floodwall totaling approximately 1,700 linear feet and 1,200 linear feet of new levee to provide increased flood protection for downtown Mount Vernon. The construction included the completion of a challenging floodwall construction in a very tight timeframe to ensure the continued operation of an adjacent cold storage and processing facility. The design and construction management team provided civil, structural, geotechnical, and electrical design as well as full-service construction contract management including contract administration, inspection, materials testing, and survey.
