R&E prepared the PS&E package for the new roadway design which included horizontal and vertical roadway layout for the portion of Riverview Rd. between the Lynden Water Treatment Plant and Hannegan Rd. Areas of focus for the design were identification of critical areas, development of an environmental process and permitting strategy, which included floodplain management, and identification of right-of-way needs. R&E worked with the City to develop a design concept whereby impacts to the Nooksack River floodplain were minimized, while meeting the transportation and access requirements of the project. Work also included ROW acquisition from three properties for the new road ROW, as well as on and offsite wetland mitigation and restoration.
