Reichhardt & Ebe Engineering, Inc. (R&E) is seeking a full-time seasonal Civil Construction Inspector to assist in the inspection and construction management of municipal transportation and utility projects, on a project by project basis.

WHO WE ARE

Our firm has provided engineering services in the northwest Puget Sound for the past 30 years. We’re a small civil engineering firm of about 25 employees located in beautiful Whatcom County – a hub for outdoor activities nestled between the Cascade Mountains and the San Juan Islands.  Our office is 12 miles from Bellingham, 100 miles north of Seattle, and 50 miles from Vancouver, Canada.  We love where we live and work, and we think you will too!

R&E specializes in municipal design engineering and construction management for local agencies.  We focus on building long lasting client relationships and quality products. We are proud of the work we do and enjoy seeing our projects translated from paper to reality. Our projects are diverse, ranging from roadways to utilities to bridges to parks and pedestrian trails, and range in value from tens of thousands to tens of millions of dollars.

 

JOB SUMMARY

The Civil Construction Inspector is a member of the R&E construction management team and works closely with the project engineers, project managers, R&E Principals, technical and administrative staff, as well as Contractors and Client representatives.  The Civil Construction Inspector is responsible for the oversight of construction for municipal and private infrastructure projects and assisting with construction contract administration.  Work includes field and office tasks, monitoring construction activities, monitoring and reviewing of construction documentation for compliance with technical and contractual requirements, documentation of all aspects of construction, as well as communicating with Clients, Contractors and office staff.

QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • Working knowledge of civil construction methods, materials, standards and specifications.
  • Abilities and familiarity with computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal in English) and interpersonal skills with the ability to function as a productive team member.
  • Be self-directed and self-motivated.
  • Possess planning and organization skills with the ability to manage time appropriately.
  • Practical analysis and problem solving abilities.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Flexibility and ability to adjust to changing demands and to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • High School Diploma or its equivalent.
  • Possess a Washington State driver’s license.

Candidates should be Client and quality-focused, organized, motivated, and possess the ability to read and interpret contract plans and specifications. Prior, civil or capital project inspection, civil construction, and civil consulting experience is a bonus.
