14th STREET BRIDGE REPLACEMENT

Project Details

Client Name: City of Lynden
Construction Cost: $1.3 Million
R&E, in conjunction with KPFF Consulting Engineers provided construction management and inspection services for the replacement of the 14th Street Bridge over Fishtrap Creek. R&E provided the primary construction management and inspection services while KPFF provided construction engineering support. R&E was responsible for assuring the project was constructed in accordance with the plans and specifications as well as making certain all required federal documents were obtained and submitted. The project included removal of the existing bridge and replacement with a single span structure including retaining walls and abutments. The bridge structure consisted of cast-in-place concrete piles, cast-in-place abutments, precast prestressed concrete girders and a cast-in-place concrete deck and approach slabs. Unusual elements of the project included construction of the bridge structure which was curved and superelevated, as well as close proximity of the structure to residences and an elementary school.
